Our Green Cities

Taking Sustainable Cities Seriously

The Clinton Foundation, the foundation started by former President Clinton, has initiated a major climate initiative that has a substantial focus on cities. Working with 40 of the largest cities in the world (the C40 cities), the Foundation has set out to work with local government leaders to chart a path toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In May of 2007, the Foundation hosted its first Climate Summit with leaders and officials from these 40 cities. Click here for more information about the Summit, including webcasts of the Summit’s proceedings.
Five of these C40 cities are in the U.S.: Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia. For a full list of the Clinton Foundation’s C40 cities, click here.

Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Philadelphia have already established policies in pursuit of sustainability, and these climate change initiatives are an important part of those policies. For more information about these Clinton Foundation’s C40 U.S. cities’ sustainability efforts, click on the city.
