We focus on one city that is actively taking steps toward positive climate change. Congratulations to our "Climate Change City" - Cambridge, MA.
Cambridge, MA., - for its' project to achieve energy efficiency and conservation.
At the end of March 2007, the City of Cambridge, Massachusetts announced that it is going to embark on a very ambitious multi-year project to achieve greater energy efficiency. Supported by funding from the Kendall Foundation, the City has launched a $70 million project to save energy in every building within its boundaries. Cambridge, a city of a little over 110,000 people located across the Charles River from the City of Boston, is a densely populated urban area where two of the world’s most prominent institutions of higher education are located - Harvard University and MIT.
For more information, see the recent article in the Boston Globe announcing the project, and a recent opinion piece written by the former Massachusetts Secretary of the Commonwealth Development and the City Manager of Cambridge. The City of Cambridge web site also provides more details on this project.
